Frequently Asked Questions
Er. I dunno. Send me a question!
Q: Why do you use the term Guardian instead of Sailor?
I am a vocal supporter of Male Guardians and given the Word of God has said 'only girls can be Sailor Guardians,' I'm determined to help male fans feel included.

You can read about my work around in the Male Guardian article but I find the idea that only one gender can play a game exclusionary and repulsive.

I was playing at the start of the 90's, when gender roles were still lingering. I had a lot of boys tell me I couldn't play games with them because I was a girl. Or if I wanted to play I had to play a damsel in distress.
Imagine if it was another fandom. Imagine if I walked into the Voltron fandom and someone told me, 'Only males can fly a Lion because females are born less. They're not as strong, they don't have the power to be a Lion pilot. Your OC is less than mine.'

It's bullshit!

And we have a Male Guardian! Mamoru. We don't know what his official title is but he has a True Starseed powerful enough to be sought out by Galaxia. He transforms, he attacks... what else is he?

The Smurfette Principle sucked in the 80's, and just because Tuxedo Mask is genderswapped doesn't make it less stupid.

So I offer a welcoming hand to all you blokes who want to fight for love and justice!
